The Ministry of Science and Education of the Lithuanian Republic has announced a scientific award for Murdoch’s Dr Almantas Pivrikas for scientific achievements and accomplishments in research in the field of physical and technological disciplines. This award is dedicated to Lithuanian scientists who are living and working abroad.
All recipients were invited to receive the award in a ceremonial event in the Ministry. Nearly 200 guests were present including ministers, nominating professors, family members, friends, media and reporters. Almantas was one of the five recipients of the award. Each nominating professor gave a short speech introducing the awardee followed by 5 minutes presentation by each award recipient. The official part was followed by discussions at a banquet!
The following are videos made during the ceremony as well as video interview afterwards. Unfortunately, they are in Lithuanian.

Awardees were also supported with accommodation aiming to extend their visit and allow them to further engage in collaborations. Each awardee gave a public talk in their respective departments. Further presentations were given while visiting various research groups in newly built research centres, also known as Sunrise Valley of Technology. Lithuania’s major research universities have recently been awarded extensive funding for building new research centres as well as upgrading the labs. Presently, most laboratories of research active professors are up to the highest standard. Combining that with an in-depth scientific knowledge of old generation professors and the new enthusiasm of young generation, Lithuania’s scientific road seems bright and promising.
